OXO TOWER
Description
The OXO Tower is an air conditioned, 1,200m2 formal restaurant, brasserie and bar. Mecserve was commissioned to design and implement the air conditioning/handling units. The air handling units were incorporated within deep ceiling voids whilst the air was outlet via 'swirl' type diffusers to provide good air distribution with a ceiling that incorporated rotating louvre blades.

THE ROYAL EXCHANGE
Description
The lower floors of the Royal Exchange have been redeveloped to provide retail units (inc. bars and cafés) at mezzanine level around the existing courtyard. The Royal Exchange is a 'Grade I' listed building, hence the location and design of M&E services is restricted by the sensitive nature of the building and the planning requirements, requiring the continued involvement of English Heritage.
The ground floor, including the courtyard atrium, incorporates 13 retail units varying in size from approximately 34m2 to 105m2. The separate mezzanine level has a total gross area of some 700m2 and comprises of another four retail units, a bar, and/or other restaurant facilities.
Mecserve was appointed to provide the base infrastructure and landlord's base services. Low grade hot water and chilled water is provided by two number-independent heat pumps, complete with heat recovery systems. A vacuum drainage system is also used due to the constraints of the building layout and service core location.
