Senior Sustainability Consultant

Salary: Competitive - depending on experience.

Primary Location: 83 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1

We are looking for a full time highly experienced sustainability consultant or a Senior sustainability consultant and BREEAM assessor in our London office.
 

Mecserve is an established and reputable multi-disciplinary consultancy that has been operating in the M&E sector for more than 45 years. We have an impressive Client list and work on a variety of projects, both large and small across different sectors, predominantly commercial and residential, as well as hotel, mixed use, student accommodation, care homes, etc.

 With a strong portfolio, we intend to expand our strong sustainability team further. The new role would best suit a highly experienced assessor with extensive experience of delivering BREEAM certifications. The successful applicant will be leading our sustainability benchmarking team and will be responsible for working on and developing a portfolio of projects and successfully completing BREEAM assessment for these projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Play the role of lead Sustainability assessor for a portfolio of projects
  • Undertake the BREEAM Project management for a variety of buildings and sites
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, attending and organising and chairing meetings with architects and the wider design team
  • Investigate multiple solutions to challenging sustainability problems and summarising the benefit and shortfall of each solution
  • Attending both internal and external presentations, presenting to the team and delivering sustainability workshops
  • Complying with our health and safety policy and quality assurance and management system
  • Supporting bids and competitions
  • Producing reports and presentations with excellent visual and grammatical quality
  • Be commercially aware and work within the agreed budget on tasks
  • Assist graduates and new starters
  • Highly organised with project management skills including the ability to plan ahead and prioritise conflicting demands to meet deadlines
  • Client focus: takes the time to question and understand the real, underlying needs of the customer, beyond those initially expressed. Always work closely with customers, develop an independent view of their needs and act in their long-term interest 
  • Great team player and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate honestly, loyalty and commitment

 

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  •  Qualified BREEAM Assessor (New Construction and/or RFO) – 2014 or 2018 accredited. Additional BREEAM qualifications and BREEAM AP preferred.
  • Extensive experience of delivering BREEAM certifications
  •  Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, ideally in a relevant subject
  •   Awareness of broad sustainability issues (e.g. passive design, health & wellbeing, post occupancy evaluation, low impact materials, water, waste, environmental economics etc.)
  •  Awareness of tasks on projects during all stages from conception to handover
  •   Proactive approach to resolve issues or raise them with line manger as they arise

Desirable: 

  •  Qualified Well AP and being familiar with Fitwel.
  •  Familiar and preferably qualification in LEED and SKA
  •   Relevant environmental design or sustainability Master’s degree
